Legator Guitars have carved out quite a specific space. If you’re into modern metal, extended-range guitars, multiscale necks, aggressive styling, and headless designs, you might already have come across Legator.

They’re an interesting brand as they actually offer proper lefty models rather than just the odd token guitar. The range is still fairly niche, but compared with many modern metal-focused brands, Legator caters to lefties more than most.
After all, not many guitar companies make 8-string guitars for lefties. Harley Benton and Schecter have some, but not many others.
Does Legator make left handed guitars?
Yes! At the time of writing, there are six lefty Legator models, each available in two different colors: Black Flame and Purple Flame.
However, not many online stores seem to stock them. You may need to seek them out at your local guitar store or buy directly from Legator themselves.
Who is Legator Guitars?
Legator Guitars is a modern guitar brand founded in 2012 by Kennon Yi in Los Angeles, CA.
The company positions itself around high-performance instruments built for modern players, with a focus on features such as multiscale necks, lightweight bodies, ergonomic designs, and extended-range options.
Legator doesn’t make vintage-style blues machines. This is a brand aimed squarely at metal, prog, djent, technical players, and anyone who wants a sleek, fast-playing guitar with modern appointments.
Their own website describes the brand as making “modern guitars for modern players”, with sleek body shapes, ergonomic contours, and contemporary high-performance features.
The brand is especially known for:

What do people think of Legator guitars?
Legator has had a slightly mixed reputation over the years.
Older discussions often mention quality-control concerns around earlier production runs.
You’ll still see some players talk about past issues. However, more recently, comments are more positive, with many saying the newer models feel much improved, especially in terms of playability, spec, and value.
I think it’s important to judge Legator on the current guitars rather than rely only on older internet chatter.
The latest models seem more focused, and the specs are genuinely impressive, especially if you’re after a left-handed multiscale or headless guitar.
I’d still suggest buying from somewhere with a good returns policy, especially if you’re picky about fretwork, setup, and finish. That applies to most guitars, but especially so if buying something as specialized as a multiscale lefty.
Types of Legator Guitars
Legator’s range is mainly split between a few key guitar families.
Ninja Series
The Ninja is probably Legator’s most recognisable traditional-bodied guitar shape. These are modern superstrat-style guitars designed for speed, comfort and heavier music.
The left-handed Ninja Super Shred models currently include 6, 7 and 8-string options. They feature multiscale construction, active Legator Aftershock pickups, stainless steel frets, lightweight mahogany bodies and quilted maple tops.
Ghost Series
The Ghost range is Legator’s headless line. These guitars are compact, modern and very much aimed at players who want a more ergonomic, travel-friendly or futuristic instrument.
The current left-handed Ghost Super Shred models include 6, 7, and 8-string versions. They use Legator’s Ghost locking headpiece and bridge system, active humbuckers, stainless steel frets, and multiscale fingerboards.
Extended-Range Models
Legator is known for its extended-range guitars. If you’re after a left-handed 7-string or 8-string, this is one brand you’d want to consider.
The fact that Legator offers lefty 7 and 8-string multiscale models in both traditional and headless formats makes them stand out among other brands. Most brands either skip lefty extended-range guitars completely or offer just one basic model.
Artist Series Models
Legator also produces artist and signature models, although, as I write this, left-handed availability is a big fat zero!
I’m kinda used to it now, but there are some pretty nice signature models available.
For left-handed players, the standard Ninja and Ghost models are your options.

Left Handed Legator Bass Guitars
Although Legator makes bass guitars; three models at the time of writing, none are available in left handed orientation.
Final thoughts
Legator is not a brand for everyone, but that’s part of the appeal, I think.
If you want a vintage-style Strat, Tele, or Les Paul alternative, then look elsewhere.
But if you’re a left-handed player looking for a modern metal guitar with multiscale construction, extended-range options, and stainless steel frets, Legator is definitely worth a look.
What I like most is that Legator is one of the very few guitar companies that offer left-handed players modern guitars like these.
The current lefty range covers 6, 7 and 8-string models across both Ninja and Ghost designs, which is genuinely useful. Legator also makes 9-string guitars, but none are available left handed.
My personal pick would probably be the N7FSS-LH. It feels like the most practical balance of modern features, extended range, and familiar playability. But if you are after something more futuristic, the G7FSS-LH or G8FSS-LH stand out most.
Lefty availability can be very limited, as it always is with left-handed guitars, but if you do happen to find one of these for sale, it could be worth snapping up!
