Who Are Wylde Audio?

Zakk Wylde, best known for being the guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, and later for forming the band Black Label Society started his company Wylde Audio in 2014, with the plan to make his own guitars and amplifiers. He later unveiled it at winter NAMM 2015.

In an interview with Guitar Messenger in 2015, when asked on how he came up with this new line of gear, Wylde said:

“To me it’s just a natural progression. You’re a player, then you’re a coach, then you’re general manager for the team, and then the next logical step for me and you would be [to become] team owners.”

He has stated in several interviews that he plans to release amplifiers, effects, strings, and more at some point in the future.

Here’s Zakk Wylde talking about his company:

Schecter Guitar Research is the worldwide distributor of Wylde Audio guitars.

What Do I Think of Wylde Audio?

I think it’s cool that Zakk Wylde decided to start his own company and make his own guitars. His guitars really suit his aggressive playing style, and I quite like the Viking theme too.

For me though, I’m not such a fan of the body shapes so far. I much prefer his Gibson Les Paul Custom Bullseye to the Wylde Audio Odin Grail, for example. Maybe my tastes for guitar shapes are a little traditional…

They do seem to suit Zakk Wylde’s image though, and from what I’ve heard, they sound pretty awesome and feel really good to play.

If they’re good enough for the big man himself, then they must be pretty good!

Final Thoughts

At the time of writing, there are two left handed Wylde Audio guitars available. They seem to be a little hard to come by though, even for right handed folk.

I’m not a huge fan of how they look, but they seem to sound pretty good though.

What are your thoughts? Do you like the unconventional shapes and paint jobs? How do they sound to you? Let us know in the comments.
