Does Hagstrom make left handed guitars?
Yes! Indeed they do! At the time of writing, there are eight left handed electric guitar models, two left handed bass guitar models, and one left handed acoustic guitar model.

Who Are Hagstrom Guitars?
Swedish accordion company Hagstrom was founded in 1925 by Swedish entrepreneur Albin Hagström, and by the 1940s they began making acoustic and classical guitars.
Later in 1958, they produced their first electric guitars and basses, known to use materials they used to make accordions.
At this point, Hagstrom branched out into making other guitar models, such as semi-acoustic and jazz models; the Viking and Jimmy, and the solid-bodied Swede and Super Swede.
Hagstrom also introduced the first ever 8-string bass in 1967; the H8, which was an instant success. Jimi Hendrix and his bassist Noel Redding are said to have used them, most notably on the song Spanish Castle Magic released the same year.
Hagstrom guitars made a name for their exceptional quality, playability, features, and value. They were also known for having some of the fastest-playing guitar necks on the market.
By 1983, Hagstrom ceased production in Sweden, as competing guitar companies moved their stock production lines to Asia, pricing Hagstrom out of the market. Rather than produce cheaper Hagstroms using Asian manufacturers, thus cheapening the brand, the company decided to close down.
Twenty-one years later, in 2004, an announcement was made that Hagstrom was to return in the summer of that very year. The company issued a press release revealing that they would be previewing over a dozen prototypes at 2004’s Summer NAMM show in July.
The news received an enthusiastic response, and when Hagstrom reopened, they began producing guitars based on designs of their more popular models, reissuing the classic Hagstrom line of guitars with a few modern tweaks and design improvements.
Hagstrom then announced they would also be launching two bass guitars in 2005.
Original pre-2004 Hagstrom guitars have become very sought-after, due to their high quality and rarity.
What Do I Think of Hagstrom Guitars?
Hagstrom guitars first came to my attention around 2010, at a similar time when I found the ESP LTD EC-1000. While looking on eBay for lefty guitars, before I’d decided that I wanted the EC-1000, I had seen quite a few left handed Hagstrom guitars for sale back then, most notably the Super Swede and the Viking.
At the time, I just thought they were Gibson copies and kinda dismissed them. However, I did think they looked cool, partly because I like Gibsons, but also because I thought the Hagstrom headstock looked really cool; they’re quite uniquely shaped and stuck in my memory.
In the years since then, I noticed some guitarists and bands I listened to were using Hagstrom guitars, so paid them a little more attention.
For example, the “Nameless Ghouls”, who play guitar for rock band Ghost’s live shows switched from the Gibson RD to a Hagstrom Fantomen in 2016, which was designed in collaboration with Ghost. In more recent times, just one of the Nameless Ghouls uses the Fantomen.
I really like the Fantomen; they look and sound really cool.
And nowadays, I’m a fan of the brand as a whole; they have some really playable, excellent quality, yet affordable guitars.
Other players of Hagstrom guitars include Pat Smear (Foo Fighters), Taylor York (Paramore), Will Sergeant (Echo & the Bunnymen), John Hassall (The Libertines), Ginger Wildheart (The Wildhearts), and Mathias Färm (Millencolin).
Lefty musicians who use Hagstrom guitars include Pernilla Andersson (The Pernilla Andersson Band), and Charlie Bedford.

Final Thoughts
So, there you have it. Eight left handed Hagstrom electric guitars, two Lefty Hagstrom basses, and one left handed acoustic Hagstrom guitar (at the time of writing). I think that’s a pretty good selection for us lefties.
In particular, for me, I’m glad we can get a left handed Hagstrom Fantomen; they’re really cool guitars in my opinion, and I’d definitely be interested to get one in the future.
