Like many people, I first heard of Chapman Guitars from watching founder Rob Chapman on YouTube, especially his appearances on the Andertons YouTube channel.

If you’re a fan of Rob’s, then maybe you’d be interested in his guitars. If you’re left handed, and interested in his guitars, then you can find out here what left handed Chapman guitars are available!

Go straight to the guitars.

Who Are Chapman Guitars?

Chapman Guitars was first established in 2009 by British guitarist Rob “Chappers” Chapman, who had made a name for himself on YouTube, gaining many fans and subscribers.

While demonstrating for Faith Guitars, Chapman proved himself to be a knowledgeable guitar player, so Faith’s parent company, Barnes & Mullins offered Chapman to design a signature guitar for himself. This was to change Chapman’s direction and focus from that point on.

And so began the designing of the original Chapman ML-1 (with ML standing for “Monkey Lord”). Chapman decided to ask his YouTube fans ad subscribers to help him design the new guitar by getting them to vote on different parts of the design, including body shape, types of wood, pickups, and hardware.

Chapman Guitars continues to do this with its new releases.

The collaborative way that their new models are designed, by allowing the public to vote on several aspects of the guitars’ designs really sets Chapman Guitars apart from other companies.

The original ML1 was also designed to be easily modified, providing a great starting point for those wanting to customize their axes.

Over the years, the company has seen fantastic growth and has built a reputation for high-quality guitars in their Pro Series, and great bang for the buck in their Standard Series.

Well-known guitarists who use Chapman guitars include Diego Cavallotti (Lacuna Coil) and Jason Cameron (Bury Tomorrow).

In 2023, Chapman Guitars launched their Workshop Series guitars; custom guitars made in England and all available left handed.

I really love the idea that fans of Rob and his company are able to have their say by voting for how the guitars are designed. It’s quite a unique way of doing things and a great way for a company to be both inclusive and collaborative with the people who play their instruments.

This is unlike any other guitar company and is a very cool way to distinguish themselves from the competition.

I really like how some of Chapman guitars look too, from the different colors to the various tops and veneers used.

Different Types of Chapman Guitars

Chapman guitars come in three different series.

  • STANDARD SERIES – These are Chapman’s standard models and are more affordable for beginners and intermediate players.
  • PRO SERIES – A higher specified series of Chapman guitars, with improved craftmanship, better quality components, and hardware. This range also features satin finishes, and high-output pickups.
  • SIGNATURE SERIES – As the name suggests, these are Chapman’s signature models

Final Thoughts

With three different lefty guitar models to choose from, Chapman Guitars have a decent, yet modest selection on offer to left handed players. Hopefully the left handed Chapman guitar range will continue to grow in the future.

It’s also great that they offer the ML3 Pro Modern in the Hot Blue Satin finish, and not just the black finishes of the other models. It’s nice to have something different in my opinion.
